SWPA is one of the largest and most active ASPA Sections with a growing membership and full range of activities and programs for its members. We welcome women and men to work together on projects and programs that promote participation and recognition of women at all levels and areas of the public sector.
The Section for Women in Public Administration (SWPA) honors the achievements of women in public administration, and encourages the professional development of women teaching in the field and practicing as public administrators.
SWPA is a section within the American Society for Public Administration. Our current priorities include:
Continue diversity and inclusion efforts in both membership and member resources.
Provide excellent, relevant career and leadership experiences.
Partner with other ASPA Chapters, Sections, and national organizations to increase SWPA impact and networking opportunities for members.
Emphasize issues of significance to women and minorities with supportive resources and advocacy.
Learn about our history and meet the leadership team.
Learn how to join SWPA and become involved in our community!
Get connected and see the great things our members are doing.
SWPA has over 200 currently active members. SWPA members are leaders in the field of public administration, in both practice and research. Our members come from a variety of backgrounds including education, non-profits, local government, and state government.
To date, SWPA has awarded over $6,000 in scholarships to assist SWPA membership travel to the annual conference.
